Grand opening festivities will be held from Sept. 29 through Oct. 4 at The Jock Shop & Screenprinters, 305 Main St. Rick Pauly purchased the business, which was called Athlete’s Bag & Screenprinters, from Roy Ostenso. A native of Men-omonie, Pauly is a graduate of UW-Stout and is em-ployed by the Donaldson Company in Baldwin. Ninety-four heifers will arrive Friday afternoon in Colfax for distribution to tornado struck farmers who lost cattle last June 4. These heifers are the gifts of Lake to Lake Dairy Cooperative, which has as its general manager, Truman Torgerson, a former Dunn County resident... Menomonie public school authorities and several business men that have property heated by Stout receive notices that this service will be discontinued in about two years. Presently, Stout’s plant provides heat to Menomonie High School, the high school gymnasium, Central grades, Lynwood Hall on Wilson Avenue, and the Arcade and First National Bank buildings on Main Street. New buildings on campus will consume all heat generated by the plant...

Menomonie’s newest retail store, The Style Shop, will be opened in a few days by Mrs. I. W. Nesser and Mrs. Emil Sneen in the Snively building, 604 Main St. The interior of the building has been completely redecorated and rearranged to conveniently accommodate the new and carefully selected stock of ladies’ ready-to-wear, lingerie and hosiery. Mrs. Sneen has perfected the art of converting Japanese fibre into beautiful bouquets, corsages and dress ornaments, representing roses, violets, sweetpeas, and other flowers. These will be on display and for sale at The Style Shop... Mojeska Shearer elected president of the Junior Roll of the American Legion Auxiliary Saturday at the organizational meeting in the Legion rooms...
With officers of the four classes elected and the staff of The Stoutonia named, organization at the Stout Institute has been completed for the year and the college looks forward to a most successful year, both in the classrooms and shops and in extra activities. One of the hardest fighting opponents that has filled the opening engagement with the Menomonie High School football team in years will be seen in action at the fair grounds here Saturday afternoon when up-and-coming Colfax battles the Maroons. Colfax goes into this opening campaign after five weeks of steady drills and the experience gained in two games. Two weeks ago the Norwegians lost to Eau Claire, 13 to 0, and last week held River Falls to a scoreless tie... Next Friday night, Sept. 25, the people of Menomonie will be given an opportunity to meet those who have come among them for work in the various schools of the city. Senator J. H. Stout has arranged for a reception to be given at that time at the gymnasium from 8 to 10. An invitation is extended to the general public to be present to meet the teachers of the public and parochial schools, the teachers and pupils of the Dunn County Agricultural School, the pupils and teachers of the Dunn County Normal School, and the pupils and teachers of the Stout Institute. This is a chance for the citizens of our beautiful little city to extend a cordial welcome to the strangers among us...
The last and the best band concert of the season will be given by the Ludington Guard Band at Riverside Park Sunday afternoon from three to five. The evenings have become so cool that evening concerts are no longer possible so the band has decided to give the public one more and have it an afternoon affair. Their program for Sunday will be by far the best of the season and there could be no better way of spending the afternoon than at Riverside Park... The spinal trouble which has been so prevalent during the past summer was the subject of discussion at the regular meeting of the Dunn-Pepin Medical Society held at the Royal last night...
For several weeks the Woodmen of the county have been planning for their big county picnic. With one voice they have asked that they might have a favorable day for it. Tuesday night light showers through the county brought relief from the intense heat and dust, and Wednesday dawned an ideal day, the finest in weeks. The members of the various camps of Woodmen and Royal Neighbors assembled at Woodmen Hall and proceeded in procession from there up Broadway to Crescent Street, thence east to Main, thence west on Main, and thence to Riverside Park. At a business meeting the cordial invitation of Eau Galle to hold the next county picnic at that place was accepted. About 800 people attended the picnic here...
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen C. Palmer, of the town of Weston, celebrated the passing of the 50th milestone in their married life at their home last Friday and gathered with them to help make the day pleasant were their children and grandchildren and a large number of their neighbors and friends...
