Buckel announces run for 29th Assembly seat

No comments posted.

St. Croix Central High School social studies teacher Chris Buckel has announced that he will run as a Democrat for the 29th Assembly seat.

Buckel, who was recently re-elected to the Hammond Village Board, said, “I am excited about the opportunity to represent the district at the state level. I believe my energy, knowledge and common-sense approach to policy-making makes me the best candidate in the race.”

Buckel lives in Hammond with his wife, Jonalee, and their four children, Jenna, Sadie, Marianna and Hayden. He hopes to make life more affordable and secure for the people in his district.

“As your representative, I will work hard to stimulate economic growth, provide real property tax relief, affordable health care and affordable higher education,” he said. “I will also advocate for children, especially those suffering from poverty and abuse.”

Buckel’s strategy is to run a clean and honest campaign.

“I paid close attention to the 29th Assembly race in 2006. The Democratic candidate was targeted by special interest groups who wanted to make sure the state legislature ran business-as-usual,” he said. “I hope the people living in the 29th District will ignore these vicious attack ads this election year and support a positive candidate with strong leadership skills.”
